My Athletics Day!

Kia Ora Guys! Abdi here from Room 25. Today I have made some writing about how my Athletics Day went. Enjoy!

Yesterday On Tuesday the 3rd of November year 3-6 Owairaka students were having Athletics Day. We All arrived at school in our class order getting ready to walk to the Lovelock track (where athletics was held). While we were walking Me, Cole and Zudais were chatting on the way about how athletics was going to be like and how we were going to try to get 1st 2nd or 3rd in any of the athletics events. This My athletics day. We eventually arrived at The Lovelock track going into girls and boys lanes. My heart was pounding tremendously as the year 6 boys were about to do our first event Long Jump. First Up was Marshal a Year 6 at room 8. He did a great running start and jumped quite far. After Marshal was Anjola, a well known athletic year 6 boy from room 6. He ran and jumped very far. Then Alan, A very great jumper was next and jumped really far. Soon then all the boys eventually jumped. 1st was Alan 2nd was Anjola and 3rd was Keisomani. I never made a place but I still gave it my best shot.Next Up was Shotput. Shotput is a heavy ball, usually we use 2 kg balls but us year 6’s we have to have 3 kg balls. You put the shot put in front of your ear and bend your shoulders and you push. Keisomani was first. Keisomani did a big push and made the ball go very far. Next was Bitner. He pushed so hard but couldn’t beat Keisomani. Everyone then had a go. After shotput we did High jump. It was my second Favorite event of the day. We could choose which place we could jump, Left or Right. I chose left because i could easily jump higher with my left foot. I jumped and made it Barely since my left knee was hurting. Next was marshal. He jumped and Just did it. It was Anjola’s turn next and he did it with ease. Then everyone did it. I failed at 1.01 meter. It was up to the last 3 Pavan, Alan and Anjola but the siren was set and we had to switch to our next event.- My favourite event of the day was the sprints. First was 100M. I didn’t really enjoy it since i enjoy long distance more than short distance. Next was the 200M race. My competition was Me, Cole, Ethan, Dekovyn. Me and Cole were 1st and 2nd so we went to the heat race. I saw Keisomani sad and that he thought he would lose in the heat race. We were racing I was 2nd in lead and Keisomani was behind. I then realised i should slow down so he could go in the finals. I then wasn’t able to go to the finals But i didn’t really care. It then was time for the 400 M. I never did it, Instead i cheered on Cole hoping for him to win. It then was the 800 M Race. I first started to jog with my friend Pavan  for most of the race but he couldn't catch up so I sped off. I was just behind Liam who was currently 3rd Place i tried to overtake him but he finished the race. I then became 4th Place. I was proud of myself achieving 4th place. It wasn’t 3rd but it was still something. This was how my day went at athletics.

  1. Kia ora Abdi. Its Floyd here from Room 24.

It sounds like you had a great time at athletics. I did not like athletics because when we were doing the 100M I tried to run very fast but I tripped and scraped my knees on the rubber track.
